Resistant

Smoky Ridge's Obertaurer was a free spirit, spending her days grazing on the tender grass in the yearling pasture. The last thing she wanted to do was have a person ride on her back. Quil had such lovely gaits that they were hoping to harness into awesome dressage moves. Quil did not have such desires, and very much didn't enjoy the idea of a saddle on her back.

On a brisk cloudy day the filly was led from her stall and into the crossties, where she stood patiently. Slowly and surely, Meredith managed to work the saddle onto her back without too much fuss. It was a different story with the girth. Quil pawed and skittered around, obviously protesting the leather girth to be snug on her barrel. At last, Meredith got the girth decently fitted and walked Quil into the empty outdoor arena to get used to the saddle for a while. The snow mustang filly swiftly flew onto the sand once the gate was open, trotted with audible snorts and her tail flagging behind her. She managed to pull every stunt in the book before she finally accepted the saddle by itself, without a rider.

Just getting the saddle on was interesting.. Smoky Ridge wasn't too sure how to get her to be an Eventing horse would work out. But nevertheless, it would be quite a while before they might decide to give up.

I love how these lines turned out, and Quil's fuzzy jaw. I can't stop myself from adding fuzz!
