Opposites Attract

The small thoroughbred filly bought from Brazen Fields whinnied through the window of the trailer that made its way up to the yard of Smoky Ridge. A handler lowered down the trailer and the short yearling hopped out as soon as a lead rope could be clipped onto her.

She unleashed another whinny as she was led to the Yearling's pasture, where a handful of the young Smoky Ridge horses grazed. The halter was removed from her head, and she trotted off happily.

Expecting her to sniff at some of the more friendly yearlings, those who watched her smiled. But a surprised expression quickly bloomed on their faces as Par made a beeline for Spoke, who temperamentally snorted at the other horses and pinned her ears. The new filly buried her nose in Spoke's mane and sniffed her without hesitation.
Somehow, the dark chestnut filly stood with only scarcely a complaint besides pinned ears and the occasional pawing.

Over the next few weeks, Par had remarkably managed to make good friends with Spoke, though no one else had ever accomplished such a thing. The two fillies could be seen grooming each other kindly and racing each other along the fences. Much to everyone's surprise.
