Not Such a Mess

<sub>~ The hot summer air had reached eighty degrees before the clock had managed to get to 10 A.M. Jacquelyn walked out of the shaded barn and looked up at a clear blue sky, with hardly a cloud for protection from the sun's rays.
"Looks like it'll be the indoor arena for today, huh?" she said, turning to Jack.
Just finishing picking out a stall, he wiped his brow with his arm. "Oh, yeah. I wouldn't want to be working in this weather if I was outdoors."
"Mhmm," Ashlynn added as she put on her tall boots nearby. "I'm taking Comique Booque to the indoor later, too, I'm sure all the horses will appreciate it."

A nice breeze blew through the indoor once Jacquelyn had finally gotten on. She sat quietly on Messenger of War, who had just recently been ridden for the first time. The ride was already starting out well, as last time it had been a small bucking fit as soon as Jacquelyn had asked her to trot.

After they had been walking along the rail for a while, she carefully squeezed Messy's sides, and said clearly, "Trot."
The paint filly protested with a toss of her head, but that was as far as she went before she quickened her pace into a trot. They made two laps around the arena before Jacquelyn pulled her back down to a walk.

"Good girl!" Jacquelyn smiled and patted Messy's neck.

"Wow, she looks great!" Meredith called from the barn connected to the arena. "What an improvement from last time." she added, laughing.

Finally, finished some more HARPG art! I'm so glad this one's done at last, I started it before my whole art block and just finished it. I like how it turned out, and it's fun to show the different parts of Smoky Ridge.

This is the indoor arena, which is connected to the barn. You can get in from outside of from the hallway of the barn. It can be closed off, if it snows or rains, and opened again so there's only a roof and the sides are open (like in the picture).
