Smoky Ridge is a large but cozy stable nestled in the mountains near Middleburg, Virginia; it is well out of the way of busy towns. The place is surrounded by open fields and hills, perfect for going out on long rides in the countryside, going foxhunting, or challenging yourself to cross country in the two different trail and field courses.

The stable also offers many different disciplines to it's horses and riders, like dressage, showjumping, and racing. Smoky Ridge has it's own racetrack and indoor/outdoor arenas. People of all ages are welcome at the barn, from beginner riders to advanced riders that travel the world to compete.

The large barn holds 50 box stalls; 25 of which are indoors, and the other half have access to a small adjoining paddock. There are two levels, the bottom being the stalls, tack room and indoor washrack, and the upper level is a loft in which the hay and other feed is stored, along with other private tack rooms. The barn is connected to the indoor arena and office. Streams and ponds run into the Yearling, Mare, and Gelding pastures so the horses can cool off or quench their thirst. Run in sheds are put in every pasture (though not shown in the yearling, barn, and smaller pastures)

Both arenas are filled with soft but grippable sand. The wall that is closest to the race track is made of stone, while the rest is pinewood fence. The indoor arena has a cover but is open on the sides, though it can be enclosed if the weather is bad. Competitions are held in both arenas as well as the cross country courses. An indoor roundpen is next to the outdoor arena for horses that need to get their energy out before a ride, or for other uses.

EDIT 5/5/11: I made a few adjustments to the layout of the stable to make it more practical and organized.
